Advice on CV preparation
A good CV is crucial to the success of a candidate’s job search. A badly written CV may even rule him or her out of the running from the outset. In the course of a decade in executive search, we have seen literally tens of thousands of CVs. This has given us an instinctive feel for how a candidate’s qualifications, experience and achievements should be presented to have maximum impact on potential employers. We can advise on length and content, on what to include and what to leave out. We can show how a CV should be adapted and tailored to take account of the requirement of different roles and requirements.
Very few people are blessed with naturally good interview techniques. But everyone can learn to acquire this skill, given the right coaching and preparation. In our role as executive search consultants, we have sat in on many interviews, and received feedback from countless others. Over time, we have come to understand the various “do’s” and “don’ts” – the factors which can make the crucial difference between success and failure at the interview stage.
In our experience, many organizations pay insufficient attention to career planning. The annual appraisal and other landmarks in the reporting cycle are also imperfect means of career planning discussion, since their main focus tends to be on performance in the current appraisal period and objectives in the next one. We take the time to explore with candidates their career options and aspirations, providing a rare opportunity for them to have a frank and in-depth discussion.

Unlike most other search firms, whose activities revolve around the search mandates they receive from clients, we are also willing to be proactive in introducing candidates to prospective employers and supporting their personal networking efforts.
